足に合わせて、一足ずつ。
We scan both feet, cut a last for each, and hand-welt the shoe over it in the workshop in Nishi-ku. Two feet, two lasts — they are rarely the same size, and we stopped pretending otherwise in 2014.
Four visits in total. Everything between them happens on the bench upstairs — nothing is sent out, and nothing is made in advance.
採寸・スキャン
Both feet scanned standing and seated, then measured by hand and by tape. Ninety minutes. We also watch you walk.
木型製作
A pair of lasts milled from the scan, then corrected by hand with leather shims until they match what the tape said.
トライアルシューズ
A rough pair in cheap leather. You wear them home and for a week. Anything that rubs, we cut open and change.
製作
Clicking, closing, hand-welting, oak-bark soles, twelve stitches to the inch. One maker follows the pair from start to finish.
お渡し
Final fit, trees included, first polish taught rather than done for you. Your lasts stay here for the next pair.
Named after the streets around the workshop. Any of them can be ordered on a house last (pattern order) or cut to your own.
A plain oxford with a slightly squared toe. The one people buy first, and the one they resole four times.

Most of the bench is other people's work — factory shoes, old boots, a pair someone's father wore. If the upper is sound, it is nearly always worth resoling, and we will tell you plainly when it isn't.

Worn soles tell us more than any scan does. Bring a pair you have walked in for a year, and the socks you actually wear.
We reply within two working days with three time slots. No deposit is taken until you have been measured.
